I have been looking back on my years in life and noticing many twists and turns, bump and valleys. Just like a roller-coaster, right? You have had the joys that make you feel lighter than air, and then the lows, where you think you can go no more.
No matter how long you have lived on this wonderful earth, you can relate to the ups and downs. You know the saying “life is not fair”, “it’s like a box of chocolates”, “not the best pick of the crop”. I could go on, but I think you know where I am going with this.
Most of it depends on how you look at it, and what you think the outcome should be, as compared to what it was. Did you think that having your name on the board in grade school was for an accomplishment or a list of the bad kids? Then the table you always sat at to eat lunch, oh my, was occupied when you got there. Trivial now, but then it was devastating. Then as you got older, were you included in the right group? Or on the right team. Thinking back, I don’t know if I was pleasing myself or others. I always tried to do my best, but was afraid of what others thought. Small towns will do that to you. No matter what you did, everybody knew and of course it got back to mom!
As time flies by, you get married have kids and all things change. Now the ups and downs are shared. They are not just yours anymore. Your roller-coaster can go up and down a lot faster, or hit more bumps when yours is going down someone else’s is going up and you hang on for the ride. That’s the support group.
Yes, you can have breakdowns and squeaky wheels, some have busted parts that need replacing, and others get attachments to fill in the gaps. You can have shiny ones and pretty one, others have dull ones and dirty one. All in all it doesn’t matter, that is what makes the world a place that you will not really see what is coming at you till you get there. It can come faster than you want, just like a roller-coaster ride, it slows down going up then watch out, before you know it! Weeeee.
I have been on a few rides along the way and how I have found a way to slow it down, enjoy it more and get off the roller-coaster. I like to stop and smell lots of flowers, take that stroll in the park and see the world for all its glory, while I am still here. Who’s with me? Come learn how to live the life you want for you and your family.
See you at your turning point.
