3 Abundance of Clutter Thoughts About Keeping Your Home Office In Order
“Simplicity is not the absence of clutter, that’s a consequence of simplicity. Simplicity is somehow essentially describing the purpose and place of an object and product. The absence of clutter is just a clutter-free product. That’s not simple.”
This is the time of year to clean out the old and bring in the new. Time to get organized and refreshed. Plan out your resolutions and start the year off with a big boost.
1. Odds and Ends
It seems like if an item doesn’t have it certain place around your house it ends up on my desk. Why is that. Do they think that I will magically know where it wants to go? OR when they can’t find something then they know to look on my desk!
What do you do with the extra pieces that come when you buy something, you just can’t throw them away. You either need to file or store it in a drawer. You know what I am talking about. That little tool that came in handy, the paperwork for the registration, how about all the extra cords or hooks that you need. What do you do with them.
This is my time of year to go through those drawers and cubby holes. My thought is that if I have not used them in the last two years they get to leave my house. Donations are great for tax purposes and as they say “One Mans Junk, is Another Man’s Treasure”.
Besides recycling the items we have around our house; as Home Business Entrepreneurs, we need to look at our computers and databases also.
Here are some great ideas:
Locate, for example, five different personas within the same sector you are targeting.
Take an existing planned campaign and its core content and messaging.
Create five similar campaigns from this one campaign – each one tailored for the specific needs of each persona.
That one campaign has now been recycled effectively, maximizing your ROI on the original content.
3. Piles of Study Material
Do you consume paper and print articles to read? Well I do. I like to take them and highlight important parts or circle things I want to remember. You can’t do that so much on a computer screen. My desktop on my computer gets so cluttered that I can’t find anything, and now I need to weed through my paper stacks also.
A Plan of action for this can be placing them in categories, then with your calendar in your blogging platform, lay out what you are planning for each week or month. I think I have enough to do the whole year.
Sharing tips and thoughts with your friends makes you accountable for your own actions. It gives you the boost that you need to get things done. I know in my business it has helped and I can accomplish so many things. It’s just mind over matter
