Discipline and Determination

Have you ever wondered how the top performers got to where they are today? Have you ever wondered how others succeed in what they are doing?

When I started my home business I was excited. I could see others out there doing it and I thought why not me. But it was something that I knew nothing about, had no idea where to start or what was needed in order to make it succeed. I knew that I needed help and needed to study everything I could. Yes you can get overwhelmed and start looking in all sorts of places. Some of those will even lead you down the wrong path. I will tell you that I was led in many direction.

Calm down it is not that hard!

What I have found is to settle down and start at the beginning. My business is one that teaches people how blog and make money through their passion. I have learned that Blogging is more than just communicating with others. It is a way to express yourself and your passions so other can learn from you. Yes, people do make a lot of money doing just that.

We have the training and the leaders to help. I just needed to discipline myself, find one thing, learn it well and then move on to the next step. If you dive in with all fours and think you need this to be set and that to be set, before you can do anything, you have it all wrong. It only takes a few steps to get started and you learn as you go.

Does a baby know how to walk and talk right away? No, they need to learn and practice in order to be good a something. It’s also like riding a bike, do you give up when the training wheels come off, or you fall down. Or better yet, were you the kind that just got on without them and said weeeee?

Why do we need to be tested on our knowledge to get certified or graduate? It is not just to get that piece of paper, but it is for you to know that you have learned the subject matter. If that is your interest wouldn’t you like to know everything there is to be an expert?

I have found that the more you do something the better you get, you might not be an expert for a while, but you grow with every turn you make. There are no tests or other measuring points, but there are challenges with great accomplishments and personal satisfaction when your goal is met.

How do you get where you want to be?

Well, I will tell you that it is discipline and determination!

Let me separate these out.

: control that is gained by requiring that rules or orders be obeyed and punishing bad behavior
: a way of behaving that shows a willingness to obey rules or orders
: behavior that is judged by how well it follows a set of rules or orders

1: punishment
obsolete : instruction
: a field of study
: training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character
a : control gained by enforcing obedience or order
b : orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior
c : self-control
: a rule or system of rules governing conduct or activity
— dis•ci•plin•al -plə-nəl adjective

Discipline in a business sense is molding and training that will correct the behavior and character of the worker. When you really dedicate and apply what you are learning over and over again to attain your goal; that is discipline.

A time of change for anyone has to take some discipline in your routine. You need to have a set of rules for yourself. These can be daily tasks to keep you on track. They can be small or big goals that you want to reach. Making sure that these things get accomplished in the time frame that you have set is your discipline.

The second point I want to make is:

1. 1.
firmness of purpose; resoluteness.
“he advanced with an unflinching determination”
synonyms: resolution, resolve, willpower, strength of character, single-mindedness, purposefulness, intentness; More
2. 2.
the process of establishing something exactly, typically by calculation or research.
“determination of molecular structures”
synonyms: calculation, discovery, ascertainment, establishment, deduction, divination, diagnosis, discernment, verification, confirmation
“the determination of the speed of light”

I read an article about an Olympic Hopeful. She is a girl from a small town who has qualified in the Olympic trials in 5 of her competing events. What I found to be interesting is that she is a swimmer who practices in the local hotels swimming pool. Why? Because it is the only pool in town. She does this twice a day, every day. Yes, she shows the determination of where she wants to go. Read her story here.

What makes this even harder for her is that this is a public pool and she competes with the swim parties and other hotel guests. The pool is not the correct length or even deep enough to dive. But that is not stopping her. She wants her chance to be an Olympic Athlete more than anything.

What lesson does this have for us?

It doesn’t matter if we have the right equipment, or the necessary tools, money, or whatever is needed to get to our goal. It only matters that we have the determination to follow your goals and your dreams to get you there.

When you constantly build your learning and keep your discipline and determination to make it work, the world can be yours. Your goals will come to you faster and bigger ones will have to be made.

What is it that you have always wanted to do and were scared to do it? Why were you scared? Did you think that you can’t do it because you don’t have the tools, or the money, or the necessary backing to get there? What are your reasons?

That again is why you fail.

I want you to step back and look at where you are and where you want to be. Then step outside of yourself and look again. Do you like what you see? What would you do differently? Then step back in and go for it. Learn to live from your true self, within the deepest depths of your being, in eternal union with your spirit. There is a gold mine of Peace deep within you, waiting to be tapped. Take time for yourself, build who you are and live.
Where do you see yourself? Do you want to change? Having a hard time finding that first step?

When you decide that you want to learn how to apply discipline and determination in creating a Business of your own. Come and see how people are applying this and making 5 or 6 figures a month, with just the will to have their own business and the freedom they desire.

  1. What a great and inspiring post, all those stories too, the swimmer. You are so very right when you say that determination is key, even if you don’t have the proper tools, if you have determination we can reach our goals and attain our dreams…
